work at the Dawsholm site

Site A

In partnership with Glasgow City Council (GCC) we have a lease for the ex-council yard at Dawsholm and have set up a pilot green waste composting, timber and stone recycling project with waste from parks, open spaces and Housing Association contracts. It is hoped the building in the yard will eventually be used as a bio-diversity, recycling and renewables resource for community groups and Eco Schools. In the meantime Site A is used for storage of equipment, materials and maturing of compost.

Dawsholm Park

Currently, we have a contract with Glasgow City Council through the Forestry Commission’s WIAT scheme (Woods In and Around Towns) to do remedial work in Dawsholm Park improving amenities for the local community i.e. upgrading paths, rhododendron removal, fallen timber clearance and pond restoration. Noisy mechanical operations such as shredding green waste, turning heaps and milling timber are conducted on the other side of the park, at Site B. We are currently receiving over 250 tons of green waste per annum which eventually transforms to approximately 100 tons of compost product.
